Evaluation of the New York State Census Equity Fund

In 2018, Engage New York worked with foundation leaders to create a pooled fund that was established and managed by The New York Community Trust. What is believed to be the largest-scale statewide collaboration of its kind, the New York State Census Equity Fund, raised over $3.5 million from 37 foundations and individual donors to promote a fair and equitable census count across the State. This independent evaluation offers funders and grantee partner lessons learned, a case for continued statewide collaboration on other pressing issues, and recommendations for how philanthropy can and should support the 2030 Census.
